Mechanism of Action
Nicardipine selectively inhibits L-type voltage-gated calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, producing potent peripheral vasodilation without significant negative chronotropic or inotropic effects. Its cerebral and coronary vasoselectivity makes it uniquely suited for neurological and cardiac critical care.
